I got my new slimmer, fatter iPod yesterday and so far, so good. I'll put up more comments as I have time to test various features.

However, it struck me that there sure are a lot of pins on that connector at the bottom.

What are they all for?

2	Line Out
4	USB
4	iPod Remote

Even if you count the shield for both the FireWire and the USB as separate pins, you can't get around the fact that there are 28-30 pins (they're very small and my eyesight is going) and most of them are unaccounted for.
