OK, so Apple's all about the Widgets in OS X Tiger. Initially, mostly eye candy, but now they're starting to get useful. Think of it as a combination of Sherlock with a good UI and Desk Accessories (for us old timers) that get out of the way and perform real functions. Let me bring a few of these to your attention:

• Google Maps Widget - look at your maps out of the way
• Package Tracker Widget - a must have if you Fedex,UPS or DHL (why no USPS?)
• BBC News Widget - headlines from a trusted source
• Kennedy Space Flight Center Feed Widget - pictures from the cape
• RabitRadio Widget - listen to NPR from around the country
