Texas death row witness discusses the practice

A man who has been an official witness at over 200 deaths carried out by the State of Texas has stopped signing up to witness the acts, but that doesn't mean he's against capital punishment.

The article (oddly enough from the Scotsman) goes over some of the inmates he has known and discusses the man's take on the practice.

I find it interesting that he continues to support the death penalty, but as neither a deterrent, nor as "closure" for the families. It's an interesting read.
