Last Holiday, an apparent loose remake of a 1950 film of the same name starring the late Alec Guinness, is a cute, if simple, comedic look at a life cut short and the reevaluation that comes with that.
In this case, Queen Latifa's personality is enough to pull together a film with some good, if under-worked talent (Timothy Hutton as her boss, Gerard Depardieu as a world-renowned chef), beautiful scenery (including the Grandhotel Pupp in Czechoslovakia), and a sweet, if a little preachy, plot.
It's a light comedy that fits the bill if you're looking for something where the good people win and the bad people face possible redemption.
