Local Fairfax company PromiseMark was acquired this past week, according to an article in the Washington Post.

They were acquired by a credit monitoring firm and the acquirers are moving the company (sans the CEO) to California.

I first met these guys when I was at Inter.net and they were just trying to get their internet/virus assurance plan/service off the ground. The idea was cute, basically that you'd buy a service from them which would guarantee that the virus protection would keep you from getting a virus, or they'd fix it.

It looks like they were still trying to work that side of things when they were acquired.
