NASA announced that they have redesigned the bipod fitting between the external tank and the main body of the shuttle. In response to concerns over falling debris from the previous design (which involved foam insulation around the bracket in order to keep the bracket from icing), the designers have now outfitted the piece with heaters that they hope will keep ice away.
