An article from the New York Times relates that there is concern in the library and archive community that the DMCA may prevent the preservation of such historically important software as VisiCalc.
Because of "bit rot", the disks containing the original software are becoming unusable, but archivists are hesitant to copy them for fear of being found guilty of violating the DMCA.
