Thanks to an article in Wired this morning, I now know about the gesture keyboards available from FingerWorks. Expect to see a review in the near future as I feel compelled to try it out.
Invented by a professor from the University of Delaware, the keyboards (and keypads) allow for typing and gestures in the same location and attempt to distribute the load across the fingers.
For those who don't have the way-cool 17" backlit keyboard and instead are using the still-rather-nice 15" PowerBook (continually rumored to be refreshed real-soon-now), you might take a look at the TouchStream MacNTouch that replaces the PowerBook keyboard with a drop-in gesture keyboard. If it works, it would be a great way to stop reaching down for your mouse.
