At CES, DirecTV announced during a technical discussion that they would be moving to MPEG-4 for their HDTV delivery. Along with the launch of four more satellites this year, they are expecting the technology switch to allow them to offer a bevy of new HD channels, including local channels in 12 markets by the end of the year.
