Alias|Wavefront, makers of the high-end 3D package, Maya, announced earlier this week that 25% of its commercial sales in North America (and 20% world-wide) are for the Mac OS X version of the software.

The exact quote was: "Twenty-five percent of all commercial units of Maya are now sold for the Mac OS X platform in North America and 20 percent globally, showing that Maya is the leading 3D animation software package on the Mac."

This is great news for Apple and for the Macintosh market in general, as it echos the still-strong compliment of Macintosh users in high-end design and production environments.
